How to Clear Matrikon Data Broker License

How to clear out a license on Matrikon Data Broker

  1. Once you have connected to the desired Matrikon Data Broker go to Configure Matrikon Data Broker.
  2. Click on the License Management bar.
  3. Click on the Deactivation tab.
  4. Click on Deactivate License Offline or Online depending on your needs.  If you selected Offline proceed to the next step, otherwise skip to Step 8.
  5. Click on Generate Request File 
  6. Save the generate file and send it to Matrikon-license-request@matrikonopc.com and ensure that you include a subject in the email, otherwise you will not receive a reply. If you do not receive a reply in 5 minutes send the request again. 
  7. Once you receive the reply file, usually within 2-3 minutes, transfer it to the desired machine and click on Process Response File select the appropriate response file.
  8. Then, click on a different bar to move away from license management, then once again click on License Management, your license should now show as expired.
  9. Launch the Microsoft Services Panel (Services.msc)
  10. Stop the Matrikon Data Broker Service.
  11. Then, navigate to C:\ProgramData\Matrikon\DataBroker\<InstanceName>\Licenses
  12. Then, in Windows Explorer go to View and ensure that Hidden Items is enabled.
  13. Backup the local and/or remote folders.
  14. Then, remove the local and/or remote folders from the previously mentioned location.
  15. Restart the Matrikon Data Broker Service and re-apply your updated license.
