Configuring Databroker with Modbus Adapter: Steps and Guidelines

First, you need to install the Databroker. During installation, it will prompt you for a username and port number. Choose a port number that is easy to remember. In this example, we use port 4848.

The default user to use is "admin," which doesn't require a password, allowing us to log in without one. The next step is to create a Federator Data Source. If installed correctly, we assign it a port number; in this example, we use 54545.

We specify these parameters in the Cache Management section: 5000, and we check the boxes for "Suppress Hostname Invalid" and "Suppress URI Mismatch." Finally, we click the Enable button.

After that, we proceed to the Adapter Configuration option and create a new connection. We select our data source name and right-click to establish a connection via Modbus TCP/IP.

Then, we enter the communication parameters with the Modbus PLC:

After that, we need to configure our addresses. To do so, we navigate to "Configure Address Space".

After that, we need to configure our addresses. To do this, we navigate to "Configure Address Space":

Next, we fill in the fields with the following data:

- Path: Connection_Name.Access_Register. For example: Modbus.4.
- Name Template: Tag Name. For example: HR0001.
- Address Template: It is not necessary to fill it in.

Then, we click on the "Submit" button.

To conclude, we go to "DataView" and start searching for the data. They are located at the following path:

Objects -> DispatchConfiguration -> DataSources -> Modbus -> Data -> Objects -> Adapter Configuration -> Adapter Data Source – Modbus – 1,3,4 (There we should see the variables we configured according to the type).
