What to Do When the Tunneller Service Fails to Start

Created by Jose Fabian Solano, Modified on Tue, 4 Feb at 11:10 PM by Jose Fabian Solano

After installing Tunneller, you might notice that the service does not start, whether it's MatrikonOPC Tunneller CSC, SSC, or UA Wrapper for COM OPC Server. This is a common issue that occurs when the service attempts to log in with incorrect credentials. To resolve it, a service refresh is required.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Windows Services window.

  2. Identify the service causing the error.

  3. Right-click on the service and select Properties.

  4. In the properties panel, navigate to the Log On tab.

  5. Check the user configured to run the service. You have two options:

    • Run with the local session account.
    • Run with an administrator account.

If it's a domain user, select This Account and enter the domain and username in this format:
DomainName\Username, along with the corresponding password in both fields.

If it's a local user, follow these steps:

  1. Click on Browse.
  2. Select Advanced.
  3. Click Find Now to display a list of local users on your computer.
  4. Select the desired user, click OK, and apply the changes.

Once the changes are made, return to the Service Properties main screen, re-enter the password, and attempt to start the service. It should start successfully.
